Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Is Here, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Beloved Titles

Much like the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow

The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

Mario's Major Moment

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut around the time of the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
